Support a local project

CommunityForce logoNatWest CommunityForce is a new initiative which sees NatWest working with local communities to support the people, projects and charities making a real difference where you live. Voting has just opened for the NatWest CommunityForce 2011 funding and will close on 23 October 2011. Three lucky charities in Lewisham will receive £6,000 each and several local projects have applied for funding, so why not cast your votes and help them out. You have three votes, but can only vote once for each entrant.

The following are our most local projects. Click on the project name to be taken to their page.

Green Peas Uk ( Grow Mayow Community Garden )

A young beekeepers project to educate raise awareness and demystify the quiet but mighty honeybee for children while helping them form a connection to the natural world. We would love educational & beekeeping materials for the project.

The Philosophy Foundation

The charity teaches philosophy in primary schools to develop reasoning and understanding across the curriculum, improve literacy and educational opportunities for the disadvantaged. They run hour-long pupil-led Philosophical Enquiries into subjects ranging from mathematical concepts to friendship, complemented with games and exercises to stimulate divergent thinking through dialogue which have resulted in improvements in communication, understanding & respect.

Walk in Space

A youth club project for children and young people aged 10-16yrs based in Crofton Park, this project is led by young people from Prendergast-Ladywell Fields College and aims to combat antisocial behaviour, improve local youth participation and community cohesion, and promote healthy living. The Sydenham Mosaic Project

Instead of white walls scarred by graffiti, the Sydenham Mosaic Project will create a mosaic celebrating the history, achievements and diversity of Sydenham and its people, for display on a council owned building in Sydenham Road (the Naborhood Centre). Benefits – sense of place, sense of community, involvement through workshops and competition

Eco Computer Systems

We have taken over the running of three libraries in the borough of Lewisham, and these are run by some staff and volunteers. We would like to install cafe’s in all three libraries, to make them more relaxing and encourage more people to read.

Data provided while voting will only be used for the purposes of validating votes and keeping voters up to date on NatWest CommunityForce, where requested.
