Asher wins Graffiti Art Competition for Stillness
Infants School
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen & Mayor Steve Bullock
rolled up with an huge Lewisham dustcart to surprise 7 year old Asher and his
classmates.
The competition - a part of Love Lewisham's Lets
Beat Graffiti campaign had been fiercely contested by schools all across
the borough.
Laurence - whose real day job is Graffiti Guru for
Lewisham Council - chose Asher's distinctive drawing to adorn the side of the
dustcart. |

ITN News were there and Asher went live on 'London
Today' by satellite link to give an interview from the school playground
without batting an eyelid. But then he is a professional in this business.
Laurence & Steve were surprised to be told his grandfather worked for
Lewisham's Refuse service.
Laurence said "I was really impressed with the variety
of artwork submitted. It a shame that some people waste their art and cause
damage when it could be earning them money and appreciated by others in homes
and galleries"
"Buy now - you might get a genuine Asher for the price
of a chocolate bar!"
"This", Steve Bullock explained, "is part of a deadly
serious anti-graffiti campaign where we are working together with our
anti-social behaviour teams, youth offending teams, streetleaders and the
police to show that the borough really cares about the way our streets
look".
Look out for the distinctive Dustcart. It's beat is
South Lewisham so Asher's Art may soon be up your street.
